Here’s a clever 12WBT tip to reclaim one lost hour EVERY week while avoiding that potentially stressful situation of grocery shopping with kids!
I have a confession: I’m a shoplifter. It only happened once and yet the memory of “fowl” play still haunts me.
On that offending day in 2007, I had a one-month-old baby strapped to my lactating breasts plus an 18-month and 2.5-year-old in a double pram. Between detaining loud toddlers attempting escape and soothing the newborn, replacing swiped groceries and extracting chocolate wrappers from sticky fingers – the chicken went through the checkout, undetected in the bottom of the pram.
As I wiped baby vomit out of my hair I thought: “If only shopping wasn’t so hard …”
How My Life Got Easier
Fast-forward seven years and grocery shopping is no longer a nightmare for two reasons: the kids are older and – this is where my fantasy actually came true – ONLINE SHOPPING! At the very least it saves the effort of getting there, packing the car, petrol, carpark rage …
What I love most about shopping online is I can stick to my Shopping List. I can click and collect all items for my 12WBT Menu Plan and not worry about being distracted by lollies or frozen cheesecake.
Makes me feel almost like a celebrity – knowing I have a personal shopper scooting up and down the aisles at Woolworths bagging my quinoa and bok choy. And if you’re thinking, “What about the specials?!” Don’t worry, if it’s on special at Woolies, it’s on special online.
Another bonus – this is a biggie – is the time saving. Grocery shopping used to take me up to two hours, from leaving home to completing a shop. Now it’s all done in a matter of minutes via Woolworths Shopping Online and I can have it delivered or pick it up on my way home from the gym.
Don’t get me wrong, when I have time I still like to meander up and down the aisles, bagging (and sometimes sampling) those enticing grapes, or being inspired to try new ingredients for my Treat Meal. But when you’re on a deadline at work, you KNOW you’ve run out of milk, toilet paper and bread, you missed your morning workout and you’re desperate to go for a run … jumping online to shop is a godsend!
So here’s another tool that you can use for a more convenient, organised life, and it gives you back a lost hour that you can use to work up a sweat of a different kind.

Its not working and adding budget and premium to my trolley,
Hi Kerry – If you feel that heading to the shops works better for you, then you should definitely stick to it. Whatever works best for you!
Shopping online is designed for convenience (and to cut any extra spending you might do whilst at the shops). If this is not the case for you, then keep doing what you’re doing 🙂
All the best,
Leila
