How To Go From Gym to Glam With Ease

For most of us, we need to squeeze in a workout whenever we can. That might be on the way to work, during our lunch break, or after work and before heading out for the night. But without a plan, it can feel like it takes the same time as our workout to shower, change, do make up, hair as it does to actually complete our workout!

10 Tips to Streamline Your Routine

With these 10 tips, you’ll be in and out in no time – and looking good while you’re at! Get ready to streamline your routine.

1. Choose the Right Workout

A hardcore bootcamp might not be the best option if you have a presentation at work or are going out after the gym. Yoga, pilates, or barre classes might be a better, more low-impact option.

2. Have a Plan

Using your gym time effectively is just as important as your post-workout routine. Have a plan before you walk into the gym. Are you going to a class? Or doing your own routine? If you’re working out on your own, make sure you spend your time wisely, and give it 100%. Your time is valuable so make it count.

3. Use Savvy Skin Care

Facial wipes are great to use both before and after your workout – working out with makeup on can clog pores and cause break outs. Remember, if you take your makeup off, you’ll also be taking off your sunscreen, so remember to reapply if you’re going to be out in the sun again.

4. Hair Right Now

Post-gym is not the time to pull out the hot rollers. When it comes to your hair, keep it simple! A slicked-back ponytail teamed with a bold lip is easy and chic, or use your new best friend – dry shampoo – to freshen up your locks.

If your gym has a hairdryer, give your roots a blast on cold and it’ll help sweatiness. No hairdryers? Stick your head under the hand dryer. Don’t forget extra hair ties and bobby pins so you’re ready to go.

5. Go Mini

Make life easy with duplicates of your favourite products so you don’t have to pack and unpack your gym bag every day. Many brands do travel size versions, or use smaller bottles and tubs to put your must-have products into – body wash, face wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Pack a perfume or cologne sample or two to save you lugging around perfume. Gents, pack a razor too!

6. Be Storage Smart

Get yourself a cute toiletry bag to store all your tools. Look for a bag that’s easy to clean, with several compartments to keep your liquids, hair ties/bobby pins, etc. all in their spot. It will save you serious time!

7. Keep Makeup Minimal

Ladies, when it comes to makeup, think a few multi-purpose products. A tinted moisturiser, lip and cheek stain duo, bronzer and mascara will have you looking fresh and fab in minutes. A bold lip colour can make you look pulled together in seconds too.

8. No Shower? No Problem!

Not all gyms have a shower – and if yours doesn’t, you can still freshen up after a sweaty session. Pack wipes, deodorant and a body spray.

9. Choose Functional Fashion

A loose fitting dress or button down shirt will extend your cool down on the walk back to the office. Gym bags are cute, but also consider a large tote that can double as a handbag – especially if you’re going out for dinner or drinks after a gym sesh. Guys, a leather tote or duffel bag is practical and stylish.

10. Don’t Forget the Basics

We’ve all been there – we’ve got the fancy dry shampoo but we forgot the shoes. Keep your gym bag packed with extra socks, underwear (thank me later!) and ladies, even a pair of ballet flats or sandals. Don’t forget a mini lint roller, wrinkle spray and plastic bags for your sweaty gym clothes.
