Free Recipe: Spiced Tea Old Fashioned Cocktail

Nothing quite says silly season in Australia like summer, sun and spirits. We’re absolutely a drinking nation and come Christmas, parties and catch-ups are in full swing and alcohol is nearly always involved. SO, how about reaching for this tasty 12WBT-approved Old Fashioned cocktail recipe? It’s low calorie, without skimping on flavour or fun, and is guaranteed to make more friends than soda water 😉

Spiced Tea Old Fashioned Cocktail

Serves 4 – 178cal/serve

Ingredients

Tea infused Whiskey ingredients:

1 bag Earl Grey tea

250ml whiskey

1 cinnamon stick

Additional ingredients:

1 slice of orange

1 dash of orange bitters

15ml simple syrup (made from dissolved sugar in water, use equal parts sugar and water)

Ice (1 large cube, or three smaller)

Soda water to top (optional)

Method

  1. Place whiskey, tea bag and cinnamon stick in an airtight container and infuse for at least an hour (and up to 24 hours).
  2. Once infused, discard tea bag and cinnamon. 
  3. In a chilled glass, add orange slice and muddle with a spoon or a cocktail muddle. 
  4. Add ice to glass and pour over 60ml of infused whiskey. Add orange bitters and simple syrup. Top with soda water if desired.
