With everything that has gone on in the world this year alone, it’s normal to be left feeling heavy hearted as we try to navigate our way through life. Here are five different ways that can help when you’re feeling overwhelmed.
Monitor Your Content
Do you sometimes feel like the content you’re consuming is a lot? When you start feeling like this, try indulging in some light hearted news or posts that will put a smile on your face or make you giggle. Whether that’s sharing a funny meme with a friend on Instagram or watching silly animal videos on Youtube, breaking up the content you consume with some feel good news is a great way to stop yourself from feeling overwhelmed.
Create A Support Network
Having people around you that will check in when needed is really important. It can be your family, closest friends or a work mate, but just having that team around you when you need to offload is beneficial for your mental health, and can make a world of difference. Our Member Zone is a safe place for days you feel like venting or just need a shoulder to lean on.
Something to Focus On
Have something planned that excites you! Anything from a hike, date night or a road trip. Spend time researching, making playlists with your favorite songs, trying new recipes for the journey or even buying a new outfit. The goal here is to get excited, because you deserve it!

Always take time for yourself and your overall well being! This can be movement in some way shape or form – a structured workout from your exercise Plan, a walk with the dog, a bike ride, a hike or spending time in the garden or in nature. Physical activity promotes all kinds of changes in the brain, including neural growth, reduced inflammation, and new activity patterns that promote feelings of calm and well-being. It also releases endorphins, powerful chemicals in your brain that energise your spirits and make you feel good!
Prioritise Your Mental Health
You’ll be surprised what a bit of deep breathing can do for you! When practicing deep breathing, your body finds relaxation which is important when you’re feeling overwhelmed. This is why things like meditation, yoga or pilates are great methods of stress relief and when practiced regularly, you’ll actually find it becomes easier to use when you really need it.
In times that you feel overwhelmed, we hope one of the methods above can help you feel a little bit light. Remember that you’re not alone, keep taking good care of yourself and we will get through this together!
